Vacation Comes to an End

Well, it’s the second day back to work after vacation and I’m pumped!  There’s nothing like a little time away to refocus and refresh.  We spent last week at Myrtle Beach SC (not too far from home) with old friends from Ohio.

It was great to see them and catch up on each other’s lives.  Thanks to Bob and Rose Schmidt for inviting us to share your week at the beach!  It was great and we look forward to doing it again some time.

My most valuable lesson during that time? You’re never too old to learn a new skill or try a new hobby.

While on a short weekend trip to Myrtle Beach last summer, I visited a bead shop called Beach Beads at Surfside to purchase some material to make our grandson (Jamal) a necklace for his graduation gift.  WOW…, is all I can say!  That shop is GREAT!!!  One of the things I liked so much is they offer individual classes for all kinds of jewelry making techniques.

I called ahead and arranged to take two classes –

(1) Wire Wrapping

(2) Aluminum Wiresmithing.

Heather was great to work with and very patient with this ‘old dog learning new tricks’.  So now I’m excited to add these skills to my repertoire of jewelry making.

What’s Coming Next?

New items to look for from Treasured Jewels are Wire Wrapped pendants and Hammered Aluminum pendants, earrings, bracelets, and scarf holders.  My next learning experience will be Aluminum Wire rings!

I also visited Black Market Minerals at Barefoot Landing where I purchased some beautiful stones you’ll soon be seeing in my new designs.  Stones include Sliced Agate, Apache Tears, Shiva Lingam, Orthoceras, Ammonite and many others.

I’m excited and ready to get to my design table.  Stay in touch to see what’s coming next!

“They shall be mine,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘on the day that I make them My Jewels.”
